August 2017 Work Party Recap

Thanks to Jim, John, Clive, Buzz, Julian, Hugh, Mark (and daughters), Joanne, Darlene, and Brian for volunteering time during today’s work party!

We managed to get a lot done:

  • rake wads and clays off the Skeet Field
  • repaint the high and low houses
  • scrap and repaint the green trailer’s doors
  • fill holes along the sides of the driveway
  • thoroughly clean out the snack shack
  • finish painting the new ramp and fence
  • start hanging the new ceiling on the porch
  • take down the old telephone pole at the top of the hill
  • plus a load of smaller jobs here and there

All of this work was to help get the club looking it’s best for the Annual Open House on Saturday, September 9th. Hope to see you there!

May 2017 Work Party

Thank you to everyone who helped out at the May work party. The focus was on the trap and skeet fields, and we got a lot of work done.

We couldn’t paint the houses due to the weather, but crews raked wads and broken clays off the fields, installed a new patterning board on Trap Field #1, did a thorough Spring cleaning on the Skeet Shelter, and split fire wood for winter.

As a bonus, work on the access ramp to the Clubhouse was also started.

Thank you to the following volunteers:John Siljander, Herb Cline, Ken Kedaras, Brian Herzog, Jim Martin, Julian Sluskonis, Phil Sullivan, Charlie, Frank Cronin, Buzz Brody, and John Abbott for donating their time to improve the club!

The next work party will be in June – watch for the announcement and please help if you can.

New Floor for the Skeet Shelter

Next time you’re at the club, be sure to stop by the Skeet Field to check out the new floor installed this week in the shelter (or see the picture below).

The volunteer crew of members consisted of Clive Nelson, Buzz Brody, Gary Dear, led by the intrepid Ralph Nardone, did all the work in a day and a half, and it’s a top-notch job. The new red paver floor will cut down on the dust from the previous stone and gravel floor, is much nicer to stand on and clean, and will also shed water better. Thanks to these members for putting in some real back-breaking work to improve the club.

The Skeet shelter also received a new chimney for the wood-burning stove, in preparation for winter skeet shooting. The stove is on its last legs however, so if you have an extra wood-burning stove you’re not using and would be willing to donate to the club, please talk to Clive Nelson or Ralph Nardone and it will be put to good use immediately.
