AED in Clubhouse & AED/CPR Training

AED in clubhouseYou may have noticed that we now have an AED (Automatic Electronic Defibrillator) in the Club House. It is located in the main hall, right by the kitchen door.

There will be an AED/CPR training session for members of the Range Safety Committee on Saturday morning, April 7, in the club hall. There are also a small number of slots available for any other club members interested in this training.

If there is sufficient interest, we will schedule an additional training session. This could save someone’s life.

Gals with Guns – March 3rd, 2018

Ladies, do you find some of the club events a little intimidating with all those guys around?

Well, here’s your chance to get some exposure to handgun safety and use in a relaxed, friendly environment with just your gal peeps. We encourage you to bring your personal handgun & ammo. If you do not own a handgun let us know so that we can arrange to have a loaner for you at events@lowellsc.org.

  • Cost $5 or bring a baked good to share
  • Coffee & Tea will be provided

Reminder: Lead or frangible ammo only

Gals under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

A Great Morning at the 2018 Ice Fishing Derby

It was perfect weather for the 2018 Ice Fishing Derby. Check out photos from the day!

We started with a delicious breakfast prepared by Pattie Brick and Vern Eshbaugh, and then it was down to the frozen pond for the derby to start at 8am.

Lots of 13″ inch fish were caught, but Jeff Kinney took the day with his 13-3/4″ trout. We’ll give an honorable mention to Adian for his 14″ fish, along with a reminder that you’ve got to be in the competition to win!

Thanks to the Pond Committee for pulling together a great event, and for all the fishermen for coming out!

Ice Fishing Outing: Feb 17, 2018

LSC members are invited to the 2018 Ice Fishing Outing on Feb 17 (weather date Feb 18)! Start the day with a hearty breakfast in the clubhouse at 7am, and fishing starts at 8am. This event does not require a fishing button, though buttons for the rest of the year will be for sale. Instructors, bait, and equipment will be available, and coffee and hot chocolate will be served by the pond.

2018 Membership Renewals Going Out Now!

Members will be receiving their 2018 membership renewal notifications soon, either by email or a letter in the mail.

If you get these by email and don’t see it this week, please be sure to check your spam folder.

Also, if you have been getting the renewals by mail, please consider saving the club postage and printing costs and opting to receiving your renewals by email.

Again this year members have the ability to pay your membership dues online. The Club set up a Paypal account to facilitate online payments, and members are welcome to use this new method or send in a traditional check. Please note that there is a small processing fee with online payments to cover the Paypal charges.

If you have any questions about your membership, dues payments, or membership of the Lowell Sportsmen’s Club in general, please contact Membership Secretary Darlene Parker at membership@lowellsc.org or 978-479-0469.

Trout Pond Closed Until Frozen

As of 12/12/17, the Pond Committee has closed the Trout Pond. With cold weather starting to freeze the surface, there will be no fishing until the ice has frozen solid enough to be safe to walk on.

The Pond Committee will determine when the pond will reopen based on weather conditions. Until then, the pond is closed.

Thanks to Troop 70!

Thanks to Boy Scout Troop 70 for building a new picnic table for the Club.

In November the Scouts spent the weekend at the campsite by Swain Pond, and used part of the time to build the picnic table out of materials provided by the Troop.

It’s a great addition to the Club, and we appreciate their effort and donation!
